Overview of Workshop

TOPOnexus was contracted to create a 2.5 hour TOPO Adventure Workshop for 11 adult participants as part of an alumni group from Southern Methodist University who were visiting Harbor Springs from various cities around the country (Texas, Kentucky, Illinois). These old friends had been visiting Harbor Springs together for the past 10 years, and were seeking a fun, group half-day experience that would enhance their connection with Harbor Springs.

“Slowing down and being guided helped us see the town in a whole new way.”

–Testimonial from Participant

Impact & Wide Reach

Participants in the TOPO Adventure Workshop were given the opportunity to explore downtown Harbor Springs using their sense of discovery and wonder in a guided, slower pace.  The history, landmarks, and new perspectives offered chances for the adults to connect with place and one another in fun, new ways

WONDER & WHOA!
We saw many shared learning moments between the adults.  They were excited to share what they saw, what they learned, how some of their perceptions were changed, and how much fun they had.  During the final Circle Up, some were emotional about how the experience brought them together in ways they didn’t expect. We are looking forward to designing more Adventure Workshops for groups of all ages.

What is Wonder & Whoa?

Without wonder, we cannot gain new perspectives or innovate. With wonder, we become lifelong learners. We are full of wonder. Whoa is something that stops you in your tracks and inspires, surprises, or shocks you. Together, wonder and whoa have the transformative power to create meaningful personalized learning.
